Question

God, what's something you want to share with me in a fresh way?

Here's the episode transcript

Hey friends. Welcome to this episode of Good God Talks. I hope you're ready to hear something new from the Lord today because I know that there's something fresh and new that he wants to share with you. And the theme for today's episode actually came from a realization that I had about all of the podcast episodes for this month of December, which is what we're launching into as this episode releases. And here's that realization. I was planning new episodes to record for you to share this month about the wonder and the awe that we can have in Christ in his birth and the Christmas story, and I realized that I had actually already recorded this entire series. It released two Christmases ago, back in 2023.

And so as I reviewed those episodes and thought about the new themes and ideas that I was gonna bring about in the series I was planning to record today, I realized that I actually wanna reshare that past series with you, and this was a fun realization for a few reasons.

The most important thing you get from every Good God Talks episode is not what I share with you. I have ideas and inspiration and revelation that God has shared with me and I prepare for these episodes with study and prayer. I come to share with you a theme and at least one verse from scripture and a question to go ask the Lord.

But the most important part comes after the episode is over. It's way more important that you hear from God than that you hear from me. And I love that about our podcast. I want to empower you and equip you to have ongoing conversations with God as you go about your day.

The other thing that I realized in prepping for this episode was I was reflecting on how I use the podcast and I share this with other people in day-to-day life, but I don't know how recently I've shared it with you here. When I am prepping for an episode, I ask God the question, and often when I'm recording the episode, I ask it again and I listen for what he would share with me. And then it's not uncommon that I go back to the episode when it releases and I listen and I ask the question to God again. That is because the question can stay the same, but the response that I get from the Lord is often very different. God is living and active, and he is involved in our lives, and the things that go on with me today will be different than what's going on in my day when this episode airs.

And so I can take these prompts and use them in my own conversations with the Lord, and I have so many personal experiences of how God has used these same questions, these same themes, these same verses, to reveal things to me about who he is and who I am as his daughter in new ways.

And so I'm going to be relaunching the Awe in Advent series as we go through this month of December. And my encouragement for you is even if you were here a few years ago when we first launched this series, don't skip these episodes. Even as you see the titles or the verses come up and they're familiar to you, don't skip over the concept or the passage, even if you've read it before. There is more revelation that God wants to share with us in it. There's more ways that we can know and experience him as we spend these few intentional moments here together with him and after the episodes end.

I wanna share with you a verse from Jeremiah 33 and it's verse three, it says, “Call to me and I will answer you and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”

Our God is beyond understanding and he can share things with us that have been hidden, that we have not realized, that we haven't grasped in the same way, that haven't resonated with us in a past season the way that they will in a current season.

And so there's more that we can experience with God in this moment. There's more good that he has planned for us. How we hear God in fresh ways begins with believing that he wants to talk with us. With believing that he has something on his heart to share with us in every moment.

He tells us, “Come to me, call to me and I will answer you”. And so we can take him at his word and we can approach this season of Advent receiving fresh revelation from him. Fresh wonder and inspiration. Fresh experiences of relationship with him.

And so here's a question that I invite you to take to God today:
God, what's something that you want to share with me in a fresh way?

I'm excited for how he'll share those fresh revelations with you as we go throughout this Christmas season.

And so once again, here's that question: God, what's something you want to share with me in a fresh way?

Have a good talk.

And if you've been encouraged by this content, please share it with a friend and help them grow in their conversational relationship with God too!
