Episode #369 What If You Don’t Need Quiet to Connect with God? – God Is Already Here
From Today's Episode:
In today’s episode, we talk about why you feel disconnected from God.
You don't have to wait for a peaceful moment to talk to God — He's already there in the hard, loud, full ones. Jen opens up about why so many of us feel disconnected from God during the busiest seasons, and offers a simple but powerful invitation to press into Him right where you are. This is Christian encouragement for the mom who hasn't had a quiet moment all week.
Our Good God talks with us and we're created for life with Him, so let's experience more of it!

Question
God, how can I connect with you in my real life today, not just in quiet moments?
Here's the episode transcript
Have you ever noticed how it's easier to find God in quiet moments, but not actually in the loud, messiness of day-to-day life? I think a lot of us can relate to that experience. That's part of where "quiet times" even come from. Having these set aside chunks of time, whether it's minutes or hours to spend in worship, and prayer, and reading the word.
Because as we go through the busyness of day-to-day life, it can be hard to be aware of God. There's so many other things to give our attention and our energy to. But God is not just in the easier, quiet moments. He's also there with us in the chaos. And one of the things I love about Scripture is there are so many examples of how God brings his presence and his peace and his calm and his order into chaotic environments. And that's really relatable for a lot of us because our days are full of things to do. And when I reflect on people I know and love and the people I get to serve through this podcast or different resources, we're going through a lot of heavy things. Life can be hard, but God is present in trouble and in chaos, not just in quiet and stillness.
The good news is that he's not waiting for our lives to calm down, to engage with us. He invites us to engage with him even in the loudness. Even in the noise and in the chaos. Psalm 46:1 says,
“God is our refuge and strength. A very present help in trouble.”
When I talk with people about growing in real relationship with God and growing your habit of listening prayer, of talking back and forth with God in prayer, this topic comes up a lot. Because we can feel like our times with the Lord need to be a certain way, in a certain tidy environment. But most of our lives aren't that way. Most of our days and the hours and the events of our life are not that tidy. And so what we get to do instead is learn how to engage with God in the moments that feel loud and chaotic. Where we might have associated God with calm, we then get to learn how to connect with him in the midst of chaos.
We don't need a refuge or a strength or a very present help if we're not in trouble. And so the invitation I wanna extend to you today is to press into God in the loud moments. To come near to him, especially if you feel like you need refuge or strength or help in trouble.
And here's a question I invite you to take to him:
God, how can I connect with you in my real life today, not just in quiet moments?
Have a good talk.
