From Today's Episode:

In today’s episode, we talk about coming to God before you figure it out.

If your first move when you’re stuck is to Google it, us AI or text a friend, this one’s a gentle nudge to ask God first. In today’s episode, we pray through James 1:5 and ask for God’s wisdom before we lean on our own strategies or everyone else’s advice—trusting Him for insight on both the big decisions and the ones we haven’t even seen coming yet. It’s a simple, honest prayer for anyone who wants to seek God first and actually believe He’ll answer.

Our Good God talks with us and we're created for life with Him, so let's experience more of it!

Question

God, I come depending on your wisdom. I know I need it, and you know what I’m facing. What’s something you want to share with me today?

Here's the episode transcript

Hey, friend. Today we're coming to ask God for wisdom. And I love that we can do this, but I will admit, sometimes I forget to do this right away. It's easy for me to look for wisdom in other places. To Google something, to ask a friend or a mentor, to reflect on what I've learned before or what other people have done, to learn from experts, to find a book. And all of those things are good resources that we can use. I'm not knocking any of them. But I've been in a season of trying to practice remembering to come to God first for His wisdom. Beyond any best practice or success I've had before, or thing I can figure out with my own mental processing and strategy. And that's what we're practicing today.

I'm gonna read for us from James chapter 1, verse 5. It says, in the New Living Translation, "If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking."

And it goes on in this passage talking about not being double-minded in our asking, to ask not really relying on God, but putting our faith in other things. There's value in recognizing that context here. But I don't wanna get into all of those specifics. I invite you to talk with God about them. The point of today's episode specifically is to begin in the asking. If you need wisdom, ask our generous God.

God, I thank You that You are generous. I thank You that we can come to You asking for wisdom, and that You give it. That You don't correct us or chastise us or make fun of us or ignore us because we're asking, because we lack these things, but that You welcome us to come and ask You.

God, we come and ask for wisdom. We ask for Your perspective and Your insight, Your guidance on the decisions that we have to make on big things and small things that are coming up.

Lord, we ask for Your wisdom in circumstances we're gonna face that we don't even know about yet. We ask for Your supernatural insight.

God, show us how to apply the knowledge we've received. Put the other resources that we might have access to in proper place, in proper time, in proper alignment.

Lord, we ask that You would speak to us, share Your wisdom with us, to share with us things that we could not have known.

And that is the question I invite you to take to God today. Start by acknowledging the areas that you need His wisdom. Tell Him of your need. Tell Him of your lack. If you too feel like you can be drawn to other things first, repent of that. Tell Him about it. Choose differently, even in this moment. And you can use this question to help you:

God, I come depending on Your wisdom. I know I need it, and You know what I'm facing. What's something You want to share with me today?

Have a good talk.
