Question
God, what's something you want me to see in this passage of Scripture? Show me the right path.
Here's the episode transcript
Hey, friends. Have you ever heard people talk about praying Scripture out loud, but you've wondered how to do that? I don't think there's necessarily one specific way to do this. But I wanted to take this opportunity to model for you and to share with you ways that I use Scripture to talk with God.
And so today I'm gonna be reading for us from Psalm 25, and I'm gonna be reading verses 4 and 5, so just two verses. It says, "Show me the right path, O Lord. Point out the road for me to follow."
This is a great prayer when you're facing circumstances or decisions and you don't know what to do. You have choices to make.
“Show me the right path, Lord. Point out the road for me to follow."
Then verse 5: "Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you."
God, I thank You that I can trust You to show me the right path, that You are God outside my understanding, that You see more, that You know more, than what I could possibly fathom, and You want to show me the ways to go. That I can trust You to point out the paths for me to follow, that You share truth and You teach me.
God, I ask that You would make me teachable. Help me stay humble before You to receive the instruction that You give me.
God, I thank You that when I miss something, when I don't learn, You give me more opportunities to learn. But I ask, Lord, that You help me learn more quickly with the decisions that I need to make, with the choices that I'm facing right now and the ones that are coming.
God, help me learn quickly. I don't wanna come back around this mountain and have to try and learn this lesson again. Help me learn now.
“For you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you."
God, thank You for rescuing me from myself, from my own missteps. All day long I want to put my hope in You. God help me put my hope in You, not just what I see or what I understand or what I figure out.
Lord, help me to turn to You first for guidance and counsel. Not to Google, not to my friends, not even to my mentors or wise counselors, but thank You for them too, God. But help me put my trust in You. Help me recognize when I'm putting my hope in myself that I can readjust what I'm doing.
God, thank You that I can rely on You. Show me what You want me to notice in this passage today.
And that's the question that I wanna leave with you too. Because as we go through life and circumstances, and as we talk with God, there's the things that we notice and see in Scripture. We talk about that in my relational reading method too, right? Like I read, I reflect, and then God reveals.
And so here's a question that I invite you to take to God as you seek Him for direction and insight and guidance on the choices and decisions that you need to make:
God, what's something you want me to see in this passage of scripture? Show me the right path, oh Lord. Point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by Your truth and teach me, for You are the God who saves me. All day long, I put my hope in You.
